Morrisons

Morrisons is the 4th largest supermarket in the UK with over 370 stores, 9 million customers and 114,000 staff nationwide
The Challenges
- After taking over Safeway in 2004 Morrisons went through a rapid period of expansion and store conversion
- With 114,000 staff to look after and train in Morrisons’ culture and processes, Personnel Managers faced a huge challenge
- It was vital that they all completed their own Management Development Programme before the end of 2007
The Solution
- Training Synergy provided a national pool of experienced management trainers to complement Morrisons in house training team
- The team completed a rapid induction process covering the organisation’s culture and values. This meant they could rapidly be deployed and utilised on a flexible basis
- Full reporting was established with the UK training manager to identify any issues at an early stage
The Benefits
- The trainers were able to use their considerable experience to establish consistent standards across the programme
- Being external meant the trainers could share a fresh perspective and introduce new examples
- The trainers’ enthusiasm and professionalism ensured delegate engagement with learning and future action points
- Learning could now be cascaded to support store and department managers
