Re-housing ex-offenders
The course aims to give delegates an understanding of how society handles the re-housing of sex offenders has raised considerable anxiety among professionals and the public. The course looks at the different ways in which social housing providers can meet the challenges posed by the allocation of social housing to ex-offenders whilst best providing for community safety.
In particular, the role of housing professionals in multi-agency partnerships will be considered, and the factors which support and inhibit their involvement. The course will also good practice examples in risk assessment and the role of housing in managing ex offenders in the community.

- Describe the structure of the prison system and prison regimes including welfare provision
- Examine recent developments in areas such as sentencing policy, health and welfare and the privatisation of prisons
- Identify the special needs of ex offenders and how they can be met
- Examine temporary and permanent housing options for ex offenders and homeless prisoners about to leave custody
- Evaluate the implications of current homelessness legislation
- Understand the implications of working with Multi-Agency Public Protection Panels
