Microsoft Founder Retires
Last week also saw the exit of the man who has probably had as big an effect on the workplace as the inventor of the telephone.
Bill Gates is retiring so that he can start giving away more of his estimated $58bn fortune. Gates established Microsoft with fellow Harvard drop out Paul Allen in 1975, to write basic programmes for early computers. As you read this and click happily away on your PC, remember the bespectacled young man in Albuquerque over 30 years ago, quietly starting a desktop revolution.
