eTNA

Training Needs Analysis is the first and most essential step in the training cycle and a core function of effective management. To remain competitive, attract the right staff and adjust to changing legislative requirements it is vital that you get it right.
eTNA is a fast, effective and affordable way of assessing skills, identifying gaps and targeting training. The versatility of this tool means you have the capability to use it for a number of business and training scenarios:
- Creating skills matrix/job specs
- Assessing potential candidates
- Testing compliance levels
- Continuous performance assessment
- Auditable evidence of existing skills
- Succession planning
With eTNA you can define your own sets of core skills to assess any job in your organisation. But to help give you a head start Training Synergy have already developed a number of fully configurable Core Skills Databases that are continually added to and updated according to regulatory and legislative requirements. These can be easily downloaded from our website.
How it works
1. Self – assessment
Candidates are first asked to assess themselves against the Core Skills Database. This provides an indication of their level of confidence in their ability to perform their role.
2. Testing
Depending on self-assessment scores eTNA will automatically generate appropriate sets of test questions to explore the knowledge of each candidate. A typical database has over 10 questions per core skill. Although the test questions are usually randomly selected you can still have full control over the test generation process. Questions can be presented in a variety of ways, including multiple choice, free text, screen shots, scanned forms, video or audio clips
3. Gap analysis
Test results are instantly collated to provide a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the training requirements of the individual. These are then matched against a library of training options to provide a fully auditable training programme.
4. Performance Monitoring Framework
After training candidates can once again be assessed and tested, to evaluate the effectiveness of training and establish an ongoing personal development programme.
How do Core Skills Databases work?
Each database has a number of core skills identified and mapped against the key competencies required for each role or job. You can create you own database or use existing Training Synergy databases.
Core Skills Databases are fully configurable and are designed so that you can choose sub-sets of the skills available to target specific roles or individuals. Standard skills can be supplemented with additional topics to cover local practices and procedures and even IT systems.
Any number of test questions can be added in a wide variety of formats and media. Some databases have questions linked to external standards and legislation which are reviewed and updated regularly.
Every core skill can be linked to on-line documentation that can provide invaluable background information, whether your own in-house procedures, government or professional body websites or computer based training libraries.
