Training evaluation

Like many other activities, organisations now require that the effectiveness of training is evaluated to ensure proper business payback.
Organisations need to spend money where it is effective – and the measurement of results is a key factor in understanding what the most effective training programmes are.
Training Synergy believes that the measurement of the results from training is essential in order to understand how future training programmes should be best undertaken.
We use the recognised Kirkpatrick model to define to what degree training projects are assessed. The four levels of the Kirkpatrick model measure:
- The reaction of the student (what they thought about the training)
- Learning (the increase in knowledge)
- Behaviour (change in behaviour and capability)
- Results (the effects on the business)
We use a variety of tools to assess the success of the training, including Prove It, a Web-based testing tool which allows delegates to complete tests at any time and place, over the Internet.
We also work closely in partnership with Complinet, a specialist provider of compliance testing systems, and in partnership with Line Communications, which utilises learning management systems and competence testing systems to train and assess people over intranets or the Internet.
The key to successful testing is to define meaningful and affordable testing criteria at the start of the project – and to assess the current skills of those to be trained, using a training-needs analysis programme. Our training consultants work with clients to define the framework within which testing will take place, to ensure that the resulting data provides the information needed to make future business decisions.
