Raising awareness and developing the skills to help those who have little or no speech.
- Supporting Choice For People Who Have Little Or No Speech
Communication is a skill that we all use every day, but seldom take the time to analyse. Yet how we communicate with the vulnerable adults whom we support is essential in achieving positive outcomes. This is particularly so when working with people with profound learning disabilities and other individuals who have speech and language impairments.
This one day course is intended to enable learners to explore the importance of developing communication relationships with those who have limited or no verbal ability and how the way in which they communicate can positively or negatively impact on the choices that the individual is able to make.
This course is not intended to provide all answers to the difficulties that support workers may experience, but to raise awareness of ways in which they can support individuals in their day to day work.
