TPMA Refresher Workshop with Assessment

This 2-day course allows trainers time to understand and prepare for the TPMA assessment prior to completing the assessment on day 2. Successful completion of the assessment will lead to award of the IITT’s ICTP certificate (Institute Certified Training Practitioner).
Delegates will revisit their own training skills and deliver micro-teach training sessions on day one, based around the TPMA training competencies. On day 2 each trainer will be required in turn to deliver a 30 minute training session, which will be observed by a qualified TPMA assessor. Trainers will be expected to demonstrate competence across 9 core areas:
- Preparation for a session
- Management of the learning environment
- Effective communication
- Effective facilitation
- Effective questioning
- Establishment and maintenance of credibility
- Appropriate use of instructional methods
- Effective management of practical sessions
- Learning development assessment
Each of the nine competencies is broken down into key performance indicators (KPIs) and delegates are scored from 0 to 4 on each KPI. To be awarded the ICTP certificate the trainer must score at least 3 on every KPI and must average 80% i.e. at least 20% of KPIs must be scored at 4.
Delegates will be fully briefed by telephone prior to the workshop on TPMA and its significance for the trainer, the competencies, the way assessment is done, the facilities available and how assessment is progressed after the event is over.
